The company is a Spain-based enterprise primarily engaged in the retail sale of clothing. Headquartered in Arteixo, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Industria de Diseno Textil SA, one of the worlds largest fashion distributors, with eight sales formats. The company was created in April 1998 as a new store and fashion concept, aimed at a younger target market. The company has 434 stores in 24 countries, including Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, El Salvador, the United Kingdom and Venezuela. Its first shops in Baltic countries were opened in Vilnius and in Klaipeda. Bershka's retail outlets predominantly sell women's fashion clothing, but also offer lingerie, cosmetics, shoewear, children's clothing and menswear. Its stores are large and spacious, with an avant-garde appearance.
